Roofers ignite small fire in Irvington

IRVINGTON — Workers atop a Main Street building ignited a fire when some of the hot roofing material they were using poured into a 6-inch gap with another structure, the fire chief said.
The fire Friday started on the side of 79 Main St., where there is an apartment on top and a delicatessen on the bottom , said Irvington Fire Chief Ken Mastropietro. The material dropped between 79 Main St. and 77 Main St.
